FUSE was Present in Brockport for the Arts Festival on Friday July 7th teaching
proper fire extinguisher use and preaching Fire Safety. Also on the 7th(Pictured
below)  we were at Kendall's Carnival along with NYS Fire to talk about fire
prevention, hand out smoke and CO detectors and to talk with the children about
Fire Safety using "Fredie the Firetruck."
Fuse was on hand with State Fire at Hamlin's Wheel Fest on Saturday, June 3rd. We
discussed fire safety with any interested audience we could find. We also handed out
smoke detectors and CO detectors to individuals who told us they didn't have one. State
Fire brought out "Fredie the Firetruck" to interact with the crowd, especially the younger
audience who took to him right away. (Fredie is a remote control firetruck about the size
of a lawn mower who can interact with people through a speaker and microphone with in
Fredie. He also has lights, siren, and blinking eyes)
Winners for the EDITH coloring contest have been selected and will be recognized
on the week of 5/22-5/26. 1st-3rd place awards will be given in each 3rd grade class.
The winners will receive 4 tickets to the Rochester Red Wings game on June 3rd.
Also 1 Grand Prize winner from each School District will be awarded a ride to school
in a fire truck.
FUSE was Present at Hamlin's Carnival for a "Child Safety Day" involving The State Troopers with
their Seat Belt Demonstrator, The Monroe County 911 Center with information, The NYS Park Police
with boater information, The Monroe County Sheriffs Department doing child finger printing and
ID's, as well as FUSE working with Glen Sickles (from Scottsville FD) presenting fire prevention with
Sparky the remote controlled Fire Truck and Dalmation, a talking Smoke detector with a house of
hazards, a  911 simulator, and 2 Fire prevention Houses(One from Hilton, One from Monroe County)
Many smoke detectors and CO detectors were also handed out. Overall a good time was had by all
and at the same time a lot of safety education was taught and received.  
FUSE was present at Kendall's Child Safety Day on Saturday, 9/30/06. Also
present was NYS Troopers, Orleans County Sheriffs Dept, NYS Office of Fire
Prevention and Control, Kendall Lions Club, Kendall PTSA, Morton Fire Dept.,
Albion Fire Dept., and Kendall Fire Dept. Kids and adults alike had a chance to
learn home and fire safety in OFPC's Smoke house. Also had a chance to
learn seatbelt safety and have their child safety seats inspected and/or
replaced. FUSE worked with Freddie the Fire truck and had an opportunity to
unveil and use our newly purchased 911-simulators. Morton had a chance to
show off their new rescue truck and newly purchased air packs and thermal
imaging cameras funded through two separate grants.
FUSE and The Kendall Fire Dept. were present for Fire Prevention Week at
Kendall Elementary School and Kendall Fire Hall on Oct. 11th, 2006. The 1st
grade learned about fire safety and about our  trucks as well as squirting some
water. The 3rd grade learned about fire safety as well as information about our
trucks and ambulance at the hall. The 5th grade received a 45 minute
assembly on fire safety, electric safety, stranger safety, bus safety , poison
safety, weapons safety, and water safety.
Fuse was present at Brockport Elementary School for Fire
Prevention Week. They held assemblies and display different fire
fighting equipment and apparatus as well as presenting the fire
prevention messages. Thank you to Brockport, Walker, and Hamlin  
for your participation.
Fuse was present at the Holley Elementary School on Thursday Oct 26th
for a comprehensive fire prevention program. They held assemblies and had
equipment and apparatus present for display and review. Thanks you to
Holley, Clarendon, and Walker for your help as well.
FUSE was present at the Kendall Carnival on Saturday July 7th, 2007
where we taught the young and old about safety and fire prevention.
Also in use and on display was our newly purchased Robot fire dog and
firetruck. This was made possible by a
grant from Senator George Maziarz.
We also handed out informational pamphlets and CO Detectors.
